Here is what Steam has to say about Subnautica:
Subnautica is an underwater adventure game set on an alien ocean planet. A massive, open world full of wonder and peril awaits you!
You have crash-landed on alien ocean world, and the only way to go is down. Subnautica’s oceans range from sun drenched shallow coral reefs to treacherous deep-sea trenches, lava fields, and bio-luminescent underwater rivers. Manage your oxygen supply as you explore kelp forests, plateaus, reefs, and winding cave systems. The water teems with life: Some of it helpful, much of it harmful.
After crash landing in your Life Pod, the clock is ticking to find water, food, and to develop the equipment you need to explore. Collect resources from the ocean around you. Craft knives, lights, diving gear, and personal water craft. Venture deeper and further form to find rarer resources, allowing you to craft more advanced items.
Build bases on the sea floor. Choose layouts and components, and manage hull-integrity as depth and pressure increase. Use your base to store resources, park vehicles, and replenish oxygen supplies as you explore the vast ocean.
What happened to this planet? Signs abound that something is not right. What caused you to crash? What is infecting the sea life? Who built the mysterious structures scattered around the ocean? Can you find a way to make it off the planet alive?
The ocean teems with life: Use the ecosystem to help you. Lure and distract a threatening creature with a fresh fish, or simply swim as fast as you can to avoid gnashing jaws of roaming predators.
Build a Pressure Re-Active Waterproof Nanosuit, or PRAWN Suit, and explore extreme depth and heat. Modify the suit with mining drills, torpedo launchers, propulsion cannons, grappling hooks and more.
As the sun goes down, the predators come out. The ocean is unforgiving of those caught unprepared in the darkness. Areas that are safe to explore during the day become treacherous at night, but also reveal a beauty that those who hide from the darkness will never see.
Cave systems wind below the sea bed, from dark claustrophobic passages to caverns lit by bio-luminescent life and burning-hot lava flows. Explore the world below the ocean floor, but watch your oxygen levels, and take care to avoid the threats lurking in the darkness.

You maid this video three years ago but how do I harvest the acid mushrooms bc when I do it I dont get any extra
regarding creep vine, if you plant the creep vine sample, you will only get creep vine. if you plant the creep vine seed cluster, you will get seed clusters growing with the creep vine
Subbed for the accent.
Sounds like home. 🖤
Just want to say that this was a very well made video. Especially bc you didn't spoil anything which could've been easy. I already knew most of it, still interesting though.
Omg this helped me soooooooo much!! Thank you sooo much!! 😀
If you use the seeds for the creepvine u can get seeds
Excellent guide
Its not gardening anymore. Thats your indoor growing.
Outside in the water is "aquaculture"
Like agriculture but underwater.
I honestly didn't think about gardening lol. Added this to my list of things to do.
I made a string of what I call lighthouses with grow beds and can use them to travel anywhere in the game without a sub and never run out of food water or air. Plant 1 Creepvine for the light one Brain Coral or 2-3 in deeper areas for the air and fill the rest with gel sacks, gel sacks don't give a lot of water or food each but they don't degrade like the other food and if you plant them every few hundred meters it's more then enough! This makes it so you can basically never return to base or your sub, it is impractical to actually go all they way down this way but being able to extend the length of your outings for as long as you need speeds things up considerably!
Do creep vines produce blood oil if I plant it so I don’t have to go down there for more blood oil?
Thanks. I was having trouble deciding what plants I needed to put in my Alien Containment full of Crabsquids in order to have them feel more at home.
3:09 so THATS why I can breathe in my alien containment, I thought you could just breathe in them on your own, but it's cuz I have a brain coral in it!
Looks like 3 years later this info is pretty spot on. Looking to watch your other videos as I need them in my playthrough.
It's been a while since I played but isn't the cradle plant and the membrain tree used for the enzyme needed to hatch the emperor eggs?
This man actually gets straight to the point. Very rare to see nowadays so you’ve got a subscriber!
I know this video is old but for anyone who still plays sub use the latern fruits for the bioreactor and marble melon for food/ water
Where do you place the growbed
The deep shrooms look like buttholes
10:04 i wish you could also grow copper, sad days we live in
I have two Alien Containments, one for Oculus and one for Reginalds. Reginalds are extremely good food, giving you +44 when cooked or cured. Oculus meanwhile only provide +30 food; However, in a bioreactor, a single Oculus is good for 630 energy, versus 490 from the Reginald. Admittedly, the difference isn't huge, so having just one big tank for both food and fuel might be easier. This is just how I do it.
The simple fact is, the Oculus is the single most energy-dense fuel for the bioreactor in the game. By this I mean that when you divide the energy value by the number of storage slots that fuel takes up, the Oculus is far and away the highest. Sure, you can accurately say that Gasopod has a higher absolute value; But the Gasopod takes up as much space as four Oculus. Same story for all other flora and fauna in the game, none is higher or even equal to the Oculus. Reginald isn't far behind, but they're still in second place.
These might be changes that happened between Early Access and current-day, but this is how it goes today. I only got Subnautica recently, sue me.
Imagine if the tiny jellyshrooms could contain tiny crabsnakes that would come out and pinch your finger for 1% damage!
Gardening 001 : Never plant something that is growing wild 5' away.
Just about every video I see that shows a base, has mushrooms in a planter with the Same mushrooms growing less than 2 seconds swim away.
I can understand growing Creepvine near Creepvine – to get the seeds' light where you want it.
… but growing table coral and acid shrooms in the safe shallows……?
Wish this hanging plants on the wall would at least produce some oxygen
5:26 where is this plant?
I use lantern fruits for my bioreactor. For the same reason people use them for food, they replenish easily. & you do actually get a lot out of the fruit itself in the bioreactor.
Last I played this game, the creepvine produced sacks when you planted in a alien containment. Did that get removed?
Cosmetic plant loot boxes
On my current playthrough im going to try to collect and plant all of the plants
Actually, the oculus fish are a little bit better than reginalds when it comes to bioreactors
How do I get Lanter Fruit trees? I hit the plant with the knife (thermal knife) but nothing came out, can i get a tree just by planting the fruit?
GREAT video !
Thx for the tips. Playing this during quarantine 2020.
Dude i fucking love the accent
Best bioreactor fuel I've found is sea treader poop. Weird. But lasts super long!
I just want to make a garden for my cuddlefish
I found a giant liviathin but I didn’t save
If stuff is rotting can I still plant?
HELP!!! Where is the single planter location/co-ordinates ?!?!?
