XCOM 2: The Story So far – Earth has changed. Twenty years have passed since world leaders offered an unconditional surrender to alien forces. XCOM, the planet’s last line of defense, was left decimated and scattered. Now, in XCOM 2, the aliens rule Earth, building shining cities that promise a brilliant future for humanity on the surface, while concealing a sinister agenda and eliminating all who dissent from their new order.
Only those who live at the edges of the world have a margin of freedom. Here, a force gathers once again to stand up for humanity. Always on the run, and facing impossible odds, the remnant XCOM forces must find a way to ignite a global resistance, and eliminate the alien threat once and for all.
Key Features:
• XCOM ON THE RUN: Take command of the Avenger, an alien supply craft converted to XCOM’s mobile headquarters. New open-ended gameplay lets you decide where to guide your strike team, how to grow popular support, and when to combat enemy counter-operations.
• RECRUIT RESISTANCE FIGHTERS: Five soldier classes, each with its own skill tree, let you create specific soldiers for your tactical plan.
• TACTICAL GUERRILLA COMBAT: New gameplay systems offer more tactical flexibility in combat. Use concealment to ambush enemy patrols. Loot enemies for precious gear and artifacts. Rescue VIPs and save fallen comrades by carrying them to the extraction point.
• A NEW BREED OF ENEMY: A diverse cast of enemies from powerful new alien species to the ADVENT, enforcers of the alien regime, offer a distinct tactical challenge.
• RESEARCH, DEVELOP AND UPGRADE: Configure and build rooms on the Avenger to give XCOM new capabilities on the battlefield. Use your Scientists and Engineers to research, develop and upgrade weapons and armor to fit your preferred tactics.
• EACH MISSION IS A UNIQUE CHALLENGE: Go on missions around the world, from wildlands to the heart of the alien-controlled megacities, to the depths of alien installations. There are virtually infinite combinations of maps, missions and goals.
• CREATE CUSTOM MODS: Community-focused tools allow you to create your own campaign, tactical gameplay, aliens, classes, strategy game features, and share within the Steam Workshop.
• ENGAGE IN HEAD-TO-HEAD MULTIPLAYER: Mix-and-match squads of humans and aliens and battle head-to-head on randomly-generated maps.
According to Firaxis Statistics, Rangers have the most kills of any class. They are followed closely by sharpshooters while specialists were dead last.

cries in 2x hp beta strike
Step one:
Use a psi operative with the domination ability
There's actually an achievement for bringing one down with melee
It was truly a scary experience when I first encounter a Berserker in my campaign for a retaliation mission. I actually encountered 5 Berserkers in total but at least they were in separate pods. I am glad they don't have the ability to jump on buildings too.
The berserker is the coolest monters
Only 2 Dislikes? What the fuck?
I'm starting to win my second attempt at Commander difficulty, and I get a retaliation mission. It says Very Difficult, and I immediately went "Fuck…Berserker." My 2 best soldiers, my healer and my heavy hitting Ranger, are wounded and I'm stuck with a relatively ragtag 5 man group. I think 2 CPLs and 3 LTs. I have mag weapons and basic cannons, snipers, and armor. (I prioritized rushing Psionics btw, I'm pretty confident in my abilities as a player and have done well so far, although I'm sure there's some luck involved.) I pondered whether or not I should skip the mission and just deal with the reprecussions, but I figured I might as well TRY. I can set an evac point if things get too dicey. So I get through 2 pods quite nicely, play my way around a Faceless, all well and good. Then I find the 3rd pod. Berserker, Stun Lancer, Trooper. Not terrible. My sniper dinged the Lancer on overwatch and lit him up (dragon rounds) so figured I could ignore him and focus the Berserker. A couple hits and a missed shot later, I decide to freeze bomb him. Trooper attacks, miss, Lancer, flanks me and misses. Then, my screen pans to the right to reveal another Berserker, lighting up a poor civilian. I can also hear metal pounding, indicating a MEC. I finish the first Berserker pod nicely and I'm able to get one person to Overwatch. Second Berserker time. OW misses. He's pretty close to about 3 people. Sniper shoots his pistol, misses. Grenadier with 100% shot hits, puts down holo-target. (Should have waited for sniper shot, would have been a hit, last time I trust a 88% shot.) and everyone else is able to hit him. 7 health left. One more shot. Mag weapon 5-7 shot, but guarenteed. I close my eyes and hear the shot. I don't hear a death. 5 hit. Fuck, there goes one of my guys…enemy team turn. Berserker starts running away from me, at which point I'm holding my face going "Whaaat?!" And I see him hit the MEC he was with. "Blind Rage" pops up. I start laughing, knowing that I'm just a few shots away from a flawless mission! My mistake was that I thought in blind rage, the MEC would retaliate, but he turned towards my troops and blew their cover and damaged 2 soldiers. No really big deal. I end up killing the MEC, finishing the Berserker, and finding the Advent Shieldbearer who ran to kill more Civilians. 2 Civilians more than I needed saved, and a victorious squad returning to base. Needless to say, that was one of the most intense moments I've had in this game. Now to why I came to this video. Wanted to learn more about their mechanics, because I read that burning doesn't get rid of their ability to melee on the wiki and that their rage isn't always blind rage, meaning that I may have gotten lucky. Anyway, thanks for reading lol, and good video TapCat!
this vid helped me get 2 beserkers to kill 3 aliens in 2 pods. Thank u .
first dislike
No dislikes
Forgot to mention stun greneades. If you use it the berserker won't attack
They Seem To Be A Gears Of War Reference.
(Based On Certain Things)
Rendered "moot" lol
This is the best "like per dislike" video I've ever seen
“Set em of fire, renders them pretty much a complete non factor” <— LOL love it. I don’t set my enemies on fire nearly as much as I should be. I always forget it disables their melee attack
Have to say very much like your tips and tricks. Only just picked xcom2 up on 60% off deal.
Wroof XD
For some reason I find berserkers love my stun gun.
Did not know they'd attack their own! Only on my second playthrough so will try and remember that by the time I encounter them! That and blocking ladders!
this may sound strange but i find berserkers to a lot less threatening than mutons, vipers, or mechs.
for one thing, they're huge so once they're spotted your rookies will be relieved to know that they can actually hit this thing. Plus, they have no weapons to shoot back with, so its pretty easy to get in comfortable shooting range to take them out, this also makes them very vulnerable to hit-and-run attacks. Because they apparently cant jump, snipers on higher ground tend to have great fun trolling them.
Frost bombs and acid grenades tend to work wonders on them if you have them available.
its also worth noting that berserkers are always seen being supported by either advent troopers or other aliens and mechs, so its a really good idea to take out or isolate the berserkers support before engaging them.
also, i highly recommend that minimum tier 2 magnetic weapons be equipped in your squad as tier 1 weapons are utterly useless by the time you encounter berserkers.
its also worth noting that if you have sparks available, they are very effective at engaging berserkers as their melee attack is quite useful on berserkers, and ive noticed that sparks tend to hit all their shots on berserkers at medium distance without much difficulty.
1st time I met a pod of Berserker + Stun Lancer…
"This is bad."
Focus fired on the berserker. Saw the "Enraged" status window pop.
"Huh, this is really bad!".
End turn. Berserker rushes to the ADVENT Stun Lancer, whacks him and I see the "Stunned 2" status window pop. And I was absolutely laughing my ass off when I saw that.
I guess you could say blocking a ladder renders them moot…. on.
I'm sorry that was really bad. I'll see myself out now.
on the original i would surround them and watch them struggle to keep up. but now that i played xcom 2 my entire squad was wipe by the queen berserker
edit: second run, i killed it with bladestorm using a fusion blade easily
The tips of setting it on fire rendering it unable to attack, and blocking ladders to inhibit it from getting to you were extremely useful. I did not know that. I assumed they had a leap ability like the faceless ones.
Lol. I've beat Legendary Ironman and didn't know about the Berserker enrage thing. See them pretty rarely and kill them with not much trouble when I do. They have no defense so Rapid Fire and Light 'em up tear them up.
Useful advice though.
Good video!
Another thing you can consider useing against berserkers is a ranger with blade storm so if you can't get a soldier far enough away and there is nobody left bu the berserker or it just doesn't attacke it's aliens and goes for the ranger with blade storm it has a good chance to die
The queen is a bitch to kill lol. How did you deal with her
