Banished is a city-building strategy game focused on careful resource management and survival as an isolated and growing society
The player guides citizens of a remote community of outcasts to grow and maintain a settlement through a command economy. The game focuses largely on the citizens of the player’s town as individuals. As the designer states in a video, “the townspeople of Banished are your primary resource. They are born, grow older, work, have children of their own and eventually die. Keeping them healthy, happy and well-fed are essential to making your town grow as you have to deal with relentless weather conditions, fires, depression, starvation, an aging population and more.

People played it in 2014, im playing it 2019 wow. How backward i am!!!
You only need a small amount of food production in the beginning of the game. As soon as you begin trading, it becomes obsolete…
I hope I am not too much of a "know it all"
I have population surges and huge deaths. After year 7 to about year 70. After year 70, it reaches a plateau. Trust me. I had many citizens that had multiple children with multiple spouses. I also had citizens that had no children. You need to accept nomads. Doctors are really not necessary. A small church is better than a big church. The small church is better because people get tired of going to church. It is shown in the game, just watch the building if you don't believe me. Another thing I forgot to mention. You need to put the hunter at the center of the town. The hunter leaves the circle. No lie about the hunter. Also, try going vegan in your town. It is a health miracle! I hope I can give some of my insight into this wonderful game. The sentences above this one are of the heart. Hash tag, America the beautiful.
A good town manager or mayor. Will sell stone and metals for food. Specifically, vegetables than only need to be gently steamed.
My citizens have a health rating average of 2 hearts. Their lifespan is the same as 5 heart citizens.
Who needs doctors that barely know anything? Hahaha
Boarding houses are a must. A must. I see you only built one boarding house.
You forgot to mention foraging. Foraging is number 1 in my gameplay
Hahaha okay zombie
something you missed entirely … and for the same reason as hunter's herbalists and gatherer's … dont put storage and houses near your forester either as those buildings remove the ability to get resources from those spots … keep all the storage and housing OUT of these places area of effect to maximize your output … best is to make a small village with housing and storage for the people who are hunting cutting and gathering your food and resources then you have a centrally located residecec zone and maximized resource output
I started playing banished very recently, thinking that it would be a very simplistic, yet fun game… I was wrong. It is fun, until your people die off after season 2 because you did not know that the game has very intricate details like crop rotation, and scaring animals off with industrial, etc. etc. (Basically everything he explained in the video lol). So thank you ZombieProfessor for uploading these videos and making me realize how wrong i was about the game and its mechanics lol. I know this video is very old but i still find it very useful.
Nooo, I think it is not true about this low yield after some time, and removing tree plantation after one year when you need to wait a few years to gen any yield? I think that is important to build a field right away, because they sow seeds at spring.
Thanks dude that was helpful!
This is the most difficult sim game that I've ever played. I love it!
lol i got 3 fires in a row
RIP
My people just grow one round of food per year
Why would you want to rotate animals and orchards? As a person who grew up on a farm => That's not immersive!
Don't bother with Cattle, Cows are the way to go as they give just as much leather and meat while also giving lots of milk
I read that having to rotate crops was never implemented in Banished.
woukd be a great game of the wouldn't eat all the food as soon as gets to the stockpile and die of hunger. all my people are Dela gated to food production, they just eat it all and die. stupid game.
How does the Gatherer's hut and Hunter's Cabin affect the Herbalist? why did you separate them?
rotation wasnt made into the final release or is my information wrong?
Oh shit i didnt know about crop rotation. Thats a thing in banished?
help, I have 2 fishing docks, chickens in pasture. But they all die cuz of starving. pls help I also make market.
how do you feed your people???
You said grow animals, ah well
Great video! Will definitely be implementing some of your suggestions!
You saved my town thank you!!!
Thanks (y)
Thanks!
Could need a little more specific info on what the most efficient design is for the Hunting, Gatherer and Herbalist. Did you experiment with that? Can you put all 3 in a cluster and what is the most efficient design so you wont get a production penalty on it? Thanks for the Tut 🙂
