Hi there, actually there are some players/coaches which will tell you that the longer the contact is with the cue ball the better the stroke is.
I kind of agree with this assessment on contact , however some cue's are simply too flexible to be used .
I prefer a stiffer cue with less flex & a shorter ferrule . cheers, Kevin.
Hi Kevy do you agreed if cue shaft are too flexible you need to use harder tip due shaft will flex during impart and generate longer contact time between cue tip & cue ball, but when your cue shaft to stiffness its better to use a softer cue tip due it will give more contact time with cue ball. Another thing is tip shape of your cue tip also important if you want to drill back more far and further..
it's very different than the 8 ball :@
u knw wat sir… i wanted to be a professional in snooker.. im trying so plz guide me through…so i can come up in my life……………
Thanks, one slight thing to remember, Snooker balls are all the same size … so the contact area is always the same.. so the angle makes no difference.
Hi there, Well a hard tip can hit harder, this is because a soft tip will absorb more power than a hard tip.
Also shape can have a bearing on the firmness of a tip, or at least the strike or hit.
test different tips & shapes until you find a combination which suits your playing style. cheers,Kevin.
That's cool , thanks for taking the time to post a comment. cheers,Kevin.
im pretty new to snooker. how does cue tip make the differences ? what kind of tip will generate more cue power ?
Hi Kevy!
Thank you for a simple but comprehensive video! I will practice like hell. Some day i will defeat my good snooker friend 🙂
Hi there, I get a sense from your tone that you are just a little tense… to play snooker you need to be relaxed.
The video is a cool idea, however try not to be too perfect, with practice it will just click.
Best of luck. cheers,Kevin.
I keep doing this, its just not happen. I'm going to ask a friend to record me so I can see how I play it.
thanks for taking the time to post. cheers,Kevin
Hi there, I would prefer to use Aramith TC balls as this is the main maker of quality sets that are used in comps all over the world. Mainly it's because they are made to very fine tolerances so actually make the game easier to learn & play. cheers,Kevin
Hi David, cool idea, but all shots from any angle are exactly the same. This is because the balls have the same contact area no matter where they are struck from. thanks for taking the time to post a comment . cheers,Kevin.
Hi Keve using good qality snooker balls i mean like Aramith Tournament Champion balls does that make any differeance in game like screwback and running. please reply
Kev the only problem I have with this video is that, you are playing the screw on the green with the shot at a slight angle..I think most people would agree it is slightly easier to get reaction when there is slight angle to a shot..But apart from that mate excellent upload and good easy to grasp advice.
I'm sorry but I really don't know the differences on these cues, but If I was to make a guess I would say that it is probably just a difference in splicings or extras which come with the cue? cheers,Kevin.
Hi there, personally I prefer to use Talisman, (as they all play the same)
However, a really good blue diamond can be just as good if you are prepaired to wade through a box of 50 tips just to fine a couple of good ones to use.
It's just what you prefer to use, or have got used to, nothing more. cheers,Kevin.
Hi Kev, do you think this cue is good to buy "Riley Burwat Gold Three Quarter Snooker Cue (RBG-2)" i dont no what is defference between RBG2 3 4 5 and 6. thx
Hi Keve, which brand is better for tip bluediamond or Talisman. and is it ok if i put 10mm tip in front of 9.5mm cue and dont cut it and leave as it is. thx
Hi there, yes you are correct in your thinking, however it does take quite a lot of practice.
when starting you should try to remember to enjoy playing, because mastering strokes can be very tough. cheers,Kevin.
HI, with good technique should i be able to screw the ball back no matter how fast i hit the cue ball. because at the minute (im a new player) i dont get much screw back without giving the cue ball a decent strike.
Hi there, in a word yes, strike below center & make sure the tip goes through the cueball. cheers, Kevin
for you its quite simple for us its impossible. lol
so,the only thing I do need to hit the ball below the center?
Please answer!
Hi there Joe, thank's for the kind comments, but I'm sorry to say that I have been a victim of "youtube" these videos have had over a million hits & I spend almost all of my free time answering questions from over a thousand subscribers, friends & watchers.
I will probably make some more videos at some point, but I have no plans to at present.
(simply due to a lack of time)
Let me know what you need & I'll sort some out, but do make sure that you can receive videos from me. cheers,Kevin
Great video kev in fact all of your videos are please put some more videos up there so educational ive watched them many times and ccant get enough
hi there, watch this vid too .. it might help.
Snooker tips "three reds with police interuption"
hi there, If you can try to do do this, when the cue is on the final backswing, set it moving forward slowly, then once it has begun to move get faster during it's movement.
(so that the cue is at it's fastest when it makes contact with the cueball)
this will both help to stop unwanted body movement & control the amount of power, (with practice) please don't be upset with yourself, as this is very difficult to get perfect.
cheers,Kevin.
Hey there,
Thanks for your earliest response. I guess where im wrong is that i can't figure it out that do i have to hit it hard while going through the cueball or hitting just normally while going through.
Regards 🙂
Hey Kevin,
Thanks for your earliest response :). I guess the problem im facing is that i can't figure it out that, do i have to hit the ball hard while hitting through the cue ball or just play normally while hitting through.
hey, its not hitting the ball below the centre i guess, Its hitting the ball at the centre LOWERING THE BRIDGE. I tried to hit the ball belw cntr at the same bridge height bt it didnt wrk. next time, I tried hitting the ball by lowering my bridge, it amazingly worked!. Cheers, Akhil.
Hi there, It's very important not to actually change our shot making technique &
play every stroke with the same speed, so the cue tip is a maximum speed when it makes contact with the cueball. (you won't see a pro rolling the cueball)
Try to think this phease in your head as you play the stroke
"slow is smooth, smooth is fast"
cheers,Kevin.
Hi there, just relax & watch the video again & try to break the instructions into small steps, this should help you to find where you are going wrong. also read some of the answers already posted . but let me know if you are still struggling & we'll sort it. cheers..Kevin
Hey Kevin,
When i try to screw back, cue ball normally stops where it strikes the object ball and when it does screw back(not much) it does not come back more than 3-4 inches. Whate am i doing wrong :S. Please help.
Try to keep your wrist straight in-line with the forearm if you can, as bending the wrist or twisting it , will only make the shot harder to play & control. cheers,Kevin
Hi there, , just play the stroke at the speed you are comforfable using, but not hard.
there is no need to pull the cue back unless you are sure that the cueball will strike your tip as it returns. cheers,Kevin
hi, when i do the screw shot, do my wrist need to swing or just hold it still? THANKS
