In this particular lecture of Planet Coaster College, we’re looking at how the path system can be manipulated to make sexy smooth flowing paths. That means making sharp junctions with Z, controlling the direction with Ctrl, and most of us using a recently discovered trick to fill up large space to create curved plazas alongside intersections. And just for the hell of it, we’re throwing in some curbs and borders along with foliage and path essentials too. If you couldn’t tell yet the episode’s a little all over the place, but I hope it can help some people on their way to make the flow of paths and parks a little more natural.
Big thanks goes out to FreetheBear for showing the smooth junction trick on SGW:

I gotta be honest, I paid attention and everything but still don’t get it, it’s like you started to tell me how; then you kept getting side tracked.
Just found this video but it's a big help as I recently got PC and PZ.
I’m here after the console release 😈
I wish you could just slate down a bunch of path, and all items should have collision.
This game is so flawed oh my god, look at the ordeal we have to go through for simple PLAZAS, things SO SIMPLE in other games…
How do you do this on the ps4
This video was very helpful and my park is getting better!
I live in denmark and ive been to Tivoli
Fantastic work! I really needed this tutorial! Thank you!
What does he mean by Zed key? Like i know ctrl key but he said zed key?
trying to build a path is so frustrating, especially for new players… they really need a better tutorial system.
There’s an easier way to do this. Click “select grid” under path and it will let you make square plazas with rounded or straight corners. Its not a total circle so if you want a circular plaza you still need to do this but if youre willing to settle for square plazas I highly recommend using “select grid”
I wish they would update the game and fix the pathing
He silveret I just learned something amazing that smoothing trick works on squares so if you make your plaza with squares and make your edges resemble the flow you want and use the smooth technique you showed in the video you can have plazas that are completely filled in!
Omg this is super helpful!
Im from Denmark tho. And i ben in Tivoli many times. Silvarret it’s right what you told about Tivoli
It’s gonna be so laggy tho
Just picked up the game and was getting frustrated with the lame pathing xD So glad I found this vid x Pretty parks, here we go!
Fantastic video! I just picked up PC with all the DLC and this trick is definitely going to go far in helping the parks I create feel more real. Still grappling with just how complex the customization is with the scenery.
What key are you pressing right after you create a path in the corner, then make it disappear so quick? Creating the smoother corner.
Lol, all I can focus on is the fact Phoeberry's intro song is in here XD
Futuristic style I recommend the red things concreet and the white the dark path
Modern style I recommend the red things concreet and white paths the path with the planet coaster logo
These are just recommendations
Very nice vid! thanks you! Still one question tho… how do you do the copy paste with those rocks? I place a pillar.. but nothing happens…
Really beautiful. This revolutionized my park/zoo!
holy fuck you drag on
I’m a beginner and I was able to make no middle spaces “garden” sections! All thanks to this tutorial! Thank you so much 🙏❤️
Thank you for showing this to me, it helps me a lot. Thanks again!
You're a planet coaster god sir.
can you make a tree line tutorial for this game. I need to get better at it
Thank you so much! I bought this game because I always played roller coaster Tycoon when I was a Child, but I'm struggling so much to learn how to do things…
It's stupid that we need to use glitches or workarounds to do what we want. This game needs a lot of improvement on the building aspect. The same happens when wanting to build your own houses, you need to find the exact sized stuff that fit together, instead of allowing you to stretch walls to any size you want.
I like how you included Cedar Point in your examples about wide open paths.
You da best music
"Simply impossible"
ME: "Use the select grid tool."
What kills me is when I want to make a food court with more than two shops inside, and I cannot get the path to connect to the buildings. Now, I know there will be hundreds of people that will call me an idiot but be as it may, I am struggling with the task of placing drink, burger, and ice cream in the same building along with a restroom and the &%@$ paths will not connect to ALL. How can a game be so brilliant and lame at the same time?
Hey i live in copenhagen in denmark 🙂
The path system is like putting a thread through a needle. I assume they didn't make the "fill tool" system people were/are suggesting because the path system uses nodes that connect one to another and it'd be weird to have guests walk in lines inside a huge blob of path.
Waiting for someone to make a Lakeside Amusement Park..I mean the Silent Hill one.
You have to become an engineer to play this game uwu
Kind of late to the party but this was incredibly helpful! Hopefully it all transfers over to Planet Zoo as well. Quick question; will that small curb between the two different path types impede guests from walking where it is connected?
FRONTIER – just made paths a walkable terrain type. Done.
Custom pathfinding AI for players to use is probably hard to implement. That's why the devs stick to linear paths…
Great work on that Tutorial! Thank you verry much. Greetings from Germany.
This is a gamer changer for my beta play through of Planet Zoo. I wish I seen this 3 years ago for my Planet Coasters days though haha !
