For many, COVID-19 has revealed an anxiety-ridden world of unknowns. Protecting our mental health is just as important as protecting our physical health in this pandemic. But how can we find comfort if we’re inundated with scary messages and physically cut off from people we love? Dr. Monica Schoch-Spana of the Center for Health Security talks to Dr. Josh Sharfstein about caring for ourselves and for vulnerable populations like frontline healthcare providers, friends and neighbors in quarantine, and those with underlying health conditions like anxiety or depression.

How come there are so few new videos on this issue now.. these were all at the beginning… this thing isn't done. There are also ECONOMIC impacts, the ongoing political stress and fatigue of division… I have lost friends and family support entirely. THere are no financial helpers out there. I have a therapist.. but it is like "we are opening up,… get back to normal".. blah blah blah. it is June 30… this is not just some one off situation… I need serious help. I tried calling the "WARM LINES" to talk to someone and they were always busy. I called the SUicide hotline and because I wasn't immediately trying to kill myself I was taking up their time"…I feel more isolated and alone… and all these things are bandaids.. just bandaids and no systematic major reform to mental health treatment is on the table. Trump is trying to once again GUT and destroy the ACA and the GOP has zero plans to replace it… this is a disaster!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nice Video, thanks for posting!
Whenever I am feeling stressed out by the Coronavirus, I just play some Three Beat Slide music and my anxiety disappears…It's like some kind of magical drug that makes me feel happy again
I just can’t stop thinking about the fact that the world is never going to be the same, however shitty it was, it was way better than how it is now, and ripples of this will stay as long as our youngest generation lives on, which will be at least 6-7 decades, the trauma of a lifetime association with as simple a thing as washing hands or using sanitizer will be so deep, it’s been two months I’ve not touched or even met a human being, I Don’t think even when is over, If it is over that is, people are gonna interact in the same way, travel which used to bring joy in an otherwise full life, isn’t gonna do the same, for a long long time, all this brings back existential crisis and i just don’t know how to deal with this.
I have found this virtual summit very helpful during these tying times. Let's help and empower one another! @t
I overcame my anxiety by reading Said Nursi's book: "Message For The Sick".
I definitely recommend it to everyone.
"O sick person who worries unnecessarily! You worry at the severity of your illness and that worry increases it. If you want your illness to be less severe, try not to worry. That is, think of the benefits of your illness, the recompense for it, and that it will pass quickly; it will remove the worry and cut the illness at the root. Indeed, worry increases illness twice over. Worry causes an immaterial illness of the heart beneath the physical illness; the physical illness rests on that and persists. If the worry ceases through submission, contentment, and thinking of the wisdom in the illness, an important part of the illness is extirpated; it becomes lighter and in part disappears. "

Thank you
yo tengo que hacer una tarea sobre este video y no entiendo nada jajjjjjajja xd
I don't know if others feel this way, but I feel that having a roof over my head and having my health is what makes most of us privileged. I wish there was less complaining and more self-reflection. Personally, for my mental health I'm keeping a journal of sorts; just dumping my random thoughts, doodles and future goals/plans. I hope this was helpful for someone!
brilliant indeed
Great post, it's definitely easy to lose sight of the psychosocial elements as we go through this together
That's why it should have been called physical distance not social distance. Physically be 6 feet apart yet be Socially close.
Enjoyed watching every second of this video! lookin forward to the next on:)
Who's here because they think they lost their minds 2020
Friends who are healthcare workers in “I 💔 NY” are scared. Most are working with inadequate or no PPE. In this crisis, receiving adequate PPE from stockpiles would go a long way towards improving their mental health.
