A tip if you lose your magnet in the water:
You can try and put a peice of metal on a rope and reverse magnet fish, so the magnet will get stuck on the metal and you will maybe be able to pull it out

Out where the USCG reported a flaming UFO
plunged . Two different dive boat charters
were thereabouts before my arrival. Both
claimed to have found huge metal objects.
Done by hand as underwater vision is poor ;
about 12 inches. Its common knowledge
the commercial fishery industry has dumped
tons of non-functional equipment on departure.
There's also several gill-netter boats, a crab
trawler, and other vessels on the bottom.
I hope to raise knives and hand tools with
a magnet on my anchor rope. That's a 10mm
Ocean Poly retailed at $1.45 per foot.

Have you ( or anyone else)ever tried putting it in a plastic bottle ( weighted ofcourse)with a narrow opening to run the rope thru? Either a bottle with a screw on lid or a one liter soda bottle with the bottom cut out and fastened to the top side of a magnet area? I've never magnet fished but came across some VERY strong magnets and thought I might give it a go .Thanks!
Does the magnet have to be a disc? Seems like the disc would get caught a lot more than a more fluid shape.. like a bar?

Good tips. I just got into magnet fishing and I'm applying my #1 normal fishing rule to it. Always bring my sit on top kayak. I have never lost a sinker rig or lure bc I can get multiple angles on it to free the line. However that red grade thread lock is rule #1 for magnet fishing. Thanks for the video.

This is my concern, losing magnet! Thinking running second line for opposite direction pull when caught up! This should make your day, Dude! I scuba dive an interested in how magnet draws along the bottom for best results? When drug by rope through eye bolt magnet draws along the bottom on its side (not good for attachments)! Might be better tying knot in middle of line! Then draw from your short side now. So magnet is drawn from magnet surface parallel to magnet bottom. Then line going through eye is for back draw pulling out of tree snags or both together for double strength! (When making loop knot on eye bolt shaft, fill shaft with loops so loops go from eyebolt to magnet face, keeping line always along magnet face!)

If you are magnet fishing on a small to medium sized river bring a 500-1000g weight that you can attach to the other end of the rope then when you get stuck on trees you can swing the weight and release it throwing it over the other side then go and pull it over

my father in law taught me that trick to get stuff un snagged cause we go cat fishing on a super rocky river that loves to eat sinkers and i wish it didnt take me a year to find this video thanks for the tips man!!!
wouldnt it be better to use paracord?
The braided rope you used in this video is for halters for livestock. They make a plastic threading like a needle that the cord is slipped into and you can attach to whatever you want to by threading the plastic needle up through the center of the braided cord slipping it back out through the braided cord exiting 4 or 5 inches. Then you can burn the end of the braided cord so it will not fray.. Thin braided through the inside of the cord produces a Chinese finger effect eliminating a knot while securing whatever you are fastening it to. Just a suggestion! Love your channel. Fred Holwell
