Optimisation through a speedrun is key, some pointers that still need to be worked out:
– Research path, right now its not very obvious what you should go first, but I think the Hammond Creation Lab upgrades and guest buildings are vital early game.
– I did not build or research any of the Innovation/Security/Science Centres. It is unclear to me if they are worth it.
– Spamming cheap low rating herbivores might be an alternative against building risky, low viability, expensive, high-rating carnivores. However it would definitely require more space and micromanagement.
Thx for the help
a tip from me use hotkeys
Has anyone gotten below 6 hours on Jurassic difficulty?
i tried that part with the expedetion center but its nt working
I did 2 spinosaurus and 5 velociraptors per pin. Fastest 5 star dino rating ever.
What is Par time? I think it stands for participation but I can't tell.
Save before making expensive dinos. if some fail, just reload the game.
Velociraptors don’t need 3….
Is this on Jurassic difficulty
The cancellation fee on contracts is 1/2 the reward. Atleast it was on Jurassic. If there's a different percentage on other difficulties, I don't know.
I'm glad this video exists. I've been having trouble with the challenge mode lately, racing against the clock and all, and now I have an idea how I can beat the clock. Thanks.
Why does it say reaction speed on your hatchery? Am I missing something here I’ve never noticed it say that or realise it could be added lol?
This game on challenge mode is bullshit because on Jurassic I barely got a 1 star hardly making any money, I getting a fucking twister that royally screwed me up. Who the fuck put this shit in a game that make the challange inpossible to do
I think there's too many variables to speedrun this in Jurassic mode. The diseases, storms, etcetera will make each run so different from each other. I think it's a brilliant game mode to versus another player though.
Velociraptor only needs 2 in an exhibit to be happy, you didn’t need to waste time on the third one
One time I was making a Tyrannosaurus on Sorna with plus 90% viability making it 95% and it failed 3 times
Haven't watched this video yet, but fast-forwarded to the end. The fact you have 2.5 stars in one hour is nice, especially since I'm going for the trophy of 5 starring challenge mode in 3 hours. My only concern is you're playing on easy and the minimum requirement for that trophy is medium difficulty. Will watch later when I have time.
Really great first video. This might be a bit lengthy but I wanted to share my experiences with trying to get the "Must go faster" achievement to get 5 stars at medium difficulty or above: Firstly ABUSE save states, especially for more costly dinosaurs. This is cheap and may not count for official speedruns, but the game doesn't take into account if you save and re-load multiple times, so you can bypass low viabilities with this method, and for the 3 hour challenge it is a NECESSITY. Secondly is some of the methodology, and I would like some help with this. The fastest time I got so far on medium took about 35 minutes for 1 star, almost an hour for 2 stars, then about half an hour for the other 3 stars, so I still haven't gotten 5 stars under 3 hours on this difficulty. I also have one creation lab which I connect to 5 enclosures (2 for the first section of the park, the other 3 for when I unlock the monorail), which I primarily use speed up research on and only add increased viability later on for dinosaurs with really low viability. The order of dinosaurs I get (always with modifications, skins when possible) are Triceratops > Edmontosaurus > Triceratops > Ceratosaurus (I avoid getting an ACU station and only use one power station until I hit 1 stars so that I can afford the Ceratosaurus at a high genome percentage) > struthiomimus. Getting to 2 stars is where I struggle though, as my initial plan was to breed the minimum amount needed for as many dinosaurs as possible to lower the variety penalty but that takes too long and still requires almost all the available dinosaurs at that point in the game, maybe just breeding multiples of high-rated dinosaurs would still be better that early into the park? After 2 stars its pretty straight forward though: get as many dinos as you can, focus on carnivores and sauropods for their high rating. The closest I got my park had the following carnivores: baryonyx, velociraptor, dilophosaurus, metriacanthosaurus, carnotaurus, deinonychus, tyrannosaurus, and spinosaurus (was only able to breed one before hitting the 3 hour mark, and it was the last thing I got, also my ceratosaurus was killed when I tried to have it share an enclosure with Baryonyx since I heard from others they were able to get medium carnivores to coexist without killing each other immediately), I was also only able to get a diplodocus due to just how costly sauropods are, especially with lots of modifications.
Maybe focusing more on herbivores would be better in terms of space and numbers, but it's hard to say. The biggest problem I had was the damn variety penalty, so if you have a suggestion on how to get to 2 stars quicker that would be amazing.
Some other small tips I got from my attempts I playing: As soon as you hit 1 star you get Dig Yield and fill out all the spots on dig team with that as you will most likely make a profit from expeditions, then get the second research team so you can research more things and speed that up. Get monorail as soon as you can so you can expand the park, it also means you can add more facilities for guests to buy from and thus increase profit. For facilities I only use Restaurant, Clothes shop (both you can research at the beginning and get RIGHT after you buy the research center), and Arcade. It MIGHT be worthwhile to research one of the centers at higher difficulties as they are essentially free money that only go up the further you go, and you chose which you focus on with contracts. Personally I went with the Security Center since it is the smallest in size. I also try to pre-emptively build hotels when the power and money is available to expend as it allows your park to grow naturally without there being a pause in growth. One thing I am less sure of, at least for the 3-hour challenge, is if it is worthwhile breeding dinosaurs as soon as they are available or if you are better off waiting until you hit 100% for a higher rating, at least for 1-2 stars, after that it is definitely worthwhile to get 100% only. To counteract predators in storms, just tranquilize them as soon as it starts or when you get a warning, their comfort won't drop during the storm and while it will temporarily lower your rating, it is a safer long term solution than potentially letting them escape. The problem with the 1-2 star range is the grind needed combined with how hard it is to get your dinosaur rating up at that point.
Apologies for the wall of text, I hope it helps and I'd love to hear what more strats you get.
When I started challenge mode I had to get all dinosaurs from the movies into my Park.
