How are you making money in the Lower League?? Would you mind walking me through it or making a detailed guide??
I agree I was one of those people but after watching you I’m really enjoying taking my time with the club building but still not very good with finances need a lot more practise with that side
I just made a hole in the monitor where the like button is.
Specially the main point: success is achieving the set goals. The goal doesn't have to be winning the competititon. Obviously that's got to be the overall goal, after all, sports are about winning. But it is stupid to take a team expected to be relegated or midtable and then say "I have to win the league and anything less isn't success". You don't get your goals by setting the final goal as your immediate goal. You stablish what are the intermediate goals and then success is reaching them in the proposed time. As you say, this season success was avoiding relegation, not winning the league, that's been just an awesome prize coming before planned.
[LONG TEXT I DONT WANT TO DELETE AFTER WRITING SO MUCH]That's how I planned my long club saves before I got hooked to journeyman (or rather manager career) mode. I took Burgos FC in Tercera in FM10, which has a very tough promotion system. My target was to get top four of may group first season (it was the favourite team of the group), in the next years it was to top the group and strengthen the squad until being able to challenge the other top fours (Burgos' group was one of the weaker of Tercera, so being top there didn't mean your chances for promotion were good). I got promotion in the fourth season. I called that four years of consecutive success. First year in 2ªB my success target was stay. I got mid table. Second was improving the squad to make a challenge for top four teams. I got there and achieved promotion in the play offs with the most ridiculous goal I've seen (free kick -> left post -> fly over goal line -> right post -> fly over goal line -> goalkeper bounce into goal). Then in Segunda A I just wanted to survive. I barely made it. I was eighteenth just one point above first relegation place. What did I call that season? Success. Then my plan was to improve the squad in each of the coming seasons, second was meant to be low-mid table but clear off promotion, third stablished as top mid table, then fourth start to think on challenging for play offs and then maybe in the fifth reach play offs. I got promotion in the third season as second (direct promotion). I found the jump between Segunda B and Segunda A (current Liga 1 X 2) is the steepest, as first season in Primera (La Liga) was a comfy fourteenth, beating Real Madrid, Barcelona and Atlético de Madrid (:D). I ended the save when FM11 arrived and if not I would have changed club after the fifth season in Primera, because target was moving a step forward, but after the second season I never managed a better finish. My five seasons in Primera were 14th, 10th, 13th, 10th, 12th so I thought "this is as high as I can take Burgos, time to move on". Since FM11 came, I moved on from the game, otherwise I'd have resigned and sought another team in the top flight I could see how to improve.[END OF TOO LONG TEXT NOT REALLY BELONGING HERE]
Too many people see success only as winning the league without looking at what is the current state of the club and what intermediate steps need to be traveled until aspiring to that. The worst of this is that it's not just a problem of the FM community when playing or watching careers in YT or forums, it is a problem in real football with many fans and I will add many boards. People get usually exaggerated expectations for their teams. Fans of teams that finished mid table one season, the next are demanding to fight for the title. I remember when I made the Tercera Activated database to play Burgos CF (my city of birth) and went to their forums to tell them I had made it possible to play the team in FM10. It was an amazing spectacle of delusional people speaking about the big history of the club that should be in Primera and this stupid president that refuses to spend money in good players. Asterisked REALLY??! Burgos has only been twice in Primera, for a total of like five seasons there since football existed with one qualification for what is noe Europa League and the fans writing like it was a huge European giant fallen into disgrace. COME ON! By the way, perhaps one of the best presidents I know of in football, since he was doing exactly what the club needed the most: clearing the financial situation. It was so bad they were at the verge of disappearing because they had a long standing debt with an old manager from the previous president who was responsible for the club's fall (which was not relegations to Tercera, but disappearance of the club Real Burgos before refoundation as Burgos CF) and he managed to convince that manager to stop the sue he was going to make. But hey, fans were angry the president was building the club finances to be healthy enough to face the future, he had to spend the money the club didn't yet have. Sigh.
It perhaps annoys me when seeing fans of big clubs, like in my Madridista TL, where you'd think rivals don't play, they're just traffic cones for our players to drible around. Always saying they should be winning by 5-0 minimum unless it's against an European giant. I mean a handful of European giants like Bayern or Juventus, because I'm betting when the PSG round comes I'll be reading PSG should be rolled over.
Sorry for the probably unnecessarily long post, but after so much writing I don't want to delete XD
Nice video – i like the points you make. Sometimes it isnt about the instant success , sometimes its good to change the whole setup of a club and build a legacy.
As for making content from it, i am surprised how people like a series where i am struggling just as much as the series where i win the title… But i suppose i am like that. Its the journey and the story…
On my Euro Journey save, you have inspired me to try and improve the club now i have won the title. At first i was thinking about euro champions league next season, but i shouldnt forget about the club itself and building on my initial success.
FM18 seems a little tougher
