Hey guys, just got ETW and its frigan awesome. This is the first tactics vid I’m gonna show you since so many of you are asking for infantry tactics vids. Hope you enjoy and learn something.
I am the French vs the AI as British. I’ll post other land + naval battle vids as soon as I can. Send me suggestions on which armies you all like and I’ll pin against each other whichever armies get the most votes.

Someone else has said this, and perhaps you have addressed this in future videos, but I concur that the music is rather loud, and competes for attention with your voice in the video. I suggest that in future videos, you go to the menu and lower the game's volume (or even perhaps mute it), so viewers can hear you more clearly, and don't have to actively ignore the music to focus on you. Otherwise, great video. I hope the suggestion helps.

It's strange that you're saying that you hate the french. I don't get why. I acutally like the french as a faction in this game and in real life I admire their culture. They are our neighbours in europe

"Couldn't find any copies" Man its been almost a decade since i'v had to worry about not getting a copy thanks to online platforms like Steam. I do miss actually going to the store, browsing the shelves for a cool game, and thinking about it all the way home.

I hate the way the units travel in a straight line and can disrupt your positions, you think they could have programmed this in.
hey I have a question that i have been trying to search everywhere for and it doesnt seem like a topic that anyone has really touched on. my question is how important is it to consider the formation of your infantry when you are about to shoot? I mean do you want a longer thin line to fire with or a condensed one? i thought the long line would be better since its like having more surface area and more guns to shoot with than when your are in a tighter formation?
France had sold all of the mid west to the U.S. And without the French you would have never gotten to the west coast and we would have avoided a crap ton of horrible events
Americans Hating on the French: Y'all do realize that they basically are the reason we are a country right?
A few things: In this game, Gendarmerie are light militia cavalry, not heavy cavalry. Their name suggests they're police units best used in patrolling city centres, not engaged in offensive combat. They suck compared to actual battle units. Also, the Old Guard was established during Napoleon's rule, not during Ancien Régime France which is portrayed here.

Guys stop hating on America and France. They both have been through a lot to get to were we are now. One similarity; we both fought bloody and horrifying revolutionary wars. We both are advanced and we both deserve praise. America may have some strengths over France and France may have some over America. That's final. There isn't one better than the other.
What's up with all the France hate here? If you are basing your hatred on WWII that is pretty silly. Most countries in Europe fell quickly to the Germans, and the English were saved by the channel. I'm really curious why you might not like the French and it would help if you have ever met one, not just base your opinions on what you hear on Fox news, though I'm sure for some of you that would be difficult.

Can someone tell me how to position the troops like he did? I can only select a unit and move it somewhere i can't make them line up side by side
this simplicity and effectiveness makes this a good tactic to use in most cases. This is also a good way to gain early victories too, as this is a easy strategy to pick up on.
I like their naval units, their infantry however never seem to work for me. I love using the Swedish for infantry however 🙂
If you are lazy end a battle if you have the patience run down the retreating foes so they don't regroup and get revenge in the next turn.
You couldn't because we would just cease trade and America which consumes 50+% of the worlds daily resources and you would all have a rebellion over Mc Donalds not having enough burgers and French legionaries ravaging American marines while Eurofighter Typhoon hordes shoot down F 22s.
The French have always been recognized as one of the best militaries in the world. They lost so quickly in WW2 because they decided to make the magnot line which would have worked if the Germans didn't simply find a way around it and attack from the rear which they did. People just hate France because English people have a trend of hating French and vice versa. Some times out for th esake of laughs and others for the sake of hatting their age old competitors.
