another tip that no one has mentioned is if you run up on a camp release any caged animals in stealth. theyll distract the soldiers and you can do your thing

Water and heavy armor can't swim
Spartan kick only works when your level is low. Once your level is high, that kick do nothing no damage at all and doesn’t push strong opponents like mercenaries. It can still work on the ship against any high level pirate, Spartan lieutenant or Athenian Lieutenant BUT NOT against mercenaries. They will eat it like nothing.
Reach lvl 20…. Then you can jump from any high places without damage….

Combined with all the health risks that have already been established from business being conducted in this, low-quality outdated manner, by top scientists leading physician specialist the EPA,FDA, drug and food ministration Surgeon General's warnings. They say not to use a generator inside your house or car garage for carbon monoxide poisoning is a leading cause of death! So very soon you will have pipelines from coast-to-coast burning off this petrified death! It is basically bringing the generator inside our house. The oldest trick the Republicans have been using preventing these programs from doing their job is by defunding them. It's what happened the whole time during Obama's presidency it is irritating negligent that Democrats are not bringing these points out sharing these facts would Americans. Talk about play hardball! It’s honestly annoyingly stupid that u can’t use shields in a game where they took inspiration from 300 and Greek history.
Taking out mercenaries above you on the ladder ends up granting some very nice rewards.
I also think having no shield is stupid. I was looking forward to having a shield and looking like a hopplite

I never like it to fight with Spear it looks soo fucking unrealistic ….. neither in Origins and not in Odyssey … in Origins i have used only sword and in Odyssey only heavy axe…

They didn't ave to remove the shield, they could just ave add an option to untoggled it since the prob that I found with origins shield is that they made the mistake of setting the shield button with toggle and not toggle at the same time. 2 opposite fonction on a single key. They really didn't think this through.

Nice I"m about 4 hours in and so far so good but the fighting can be frustrating, you can tell they changed a lot of things from past AC games.
If it matters to you whether Athens or Sparta is controlling an area open for conquest, then pay attention to which side holds the major forts in that region. For example, if the area is controlled by Athens and you want to fight for Sparta- clear those forts for XP and loot BEFORE you join the conquest. Otherwise, you'll either have to loot the forts afterwards, weaken the Spartan regional force and undermine your own war effort OR miss out on all that good stuff. Note- if you rid an area of one side or the other, the region will go to the remaining faction and there will be no conquest there. It just happens without warning, and any quests that pertained to a fort or faction can potentially disappear, even if it's already active in your journal.

@Astrosive did you know? that if you throw your torch on the ground and then aim your bow (using basic arrows) near it you can get a free fire arrow? useful on early in-game when you have not yet unlock the fire arrow engraving or acquire the craft fire arrows ability. it works also if you aim near any fire source like fire pits or fire torches laying around.
Is the absence of shields in the game for better or worse? Very curious about this as I am currently playing Origins and love using the shield to parry
If you have spare cash buy materials like leather, iron from the blacksmith. They sell them in limited supply. Drachmae is easier to find than materials.

How is the parry buttons easier in this Assassin Creed. On the Xbox for all the other assassins creeds you hit the Y button. Mush easier. I hate having to hit both left & right bumpers. Half the time u miss. Y was so much easier. WAYYYY EASIER

If any of you guys experience that horrible FPS lag that occurs every once in awhile (like .5 to 1 fps), turn off your automatic updates and downloads because for some reason the game reacts horribly to those. It literally gives up all of its resources to downloads which I do not understand. Hopefully Ubisoft will fix that in the next week or so.
Other than that this is my favorite game of all time!

One more tip with combat is that there are varying types of heavy swings for each weapon. For instance, at the end of a dagger normal swing rotation the target will be knocked back out of melee range. You can dodge toward them and immediately enter a heavy swing to perform a gap closer heavy attack to reinitiate your combo chain before they regain their footing. It's a different heavy attack when standing still, when running toward your target without rolling first, or yet again when weaving a heavy attack into a normal attack combo (can infinitely chain attack combo this way because it will never perform the last hit that knocks them back). With a spear or staff, you can dodge into a heavy attack for a sweeping windmill strike that hits all enemies around you for really solid damage. I forget what the different great weapon heavy attacks do, but they'll have their own unique moves as well.
To expand on combat – depending on the type of enemy some will become staggered when you hit them with a heavy swing during their normal attack, and some will not. Additionally, there are several skills you can use to cancel the red glowing un-parryable attacks, like Shield Breaker (whether they do or don't have a shield) and Ring of Chaos. Once you figure out which enemies respond to which interrupt method you can use a combination of parry, Overpower, Shield Breaker and heavy swings to keep your target permanently staggered and vulnerable to attack no matter how strong they are, without having to use dodge to break your combat momentum. This works incredibly well with daggers and swords due to the response time and weapon speed. Using this trick you can chain a permanent combo onto any enemy where they will not be able to attack you for the duration of the fight.
